In anticipation of the Day of the Complete Liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade, a commemorative event titled "Spark of Hope" took place in Kant.

Representatives of the city administration, employees of the Chui Regional Library, schoolchildren, and servicemen from the Russian aviation base gathered at the event held near the monument to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

During the event, participants lit candles in memory of those who did not return from the front and honored their memory with a moment of silence. At that moment, the 7th Symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich, created in besieged Leningrad and becoming a symbol of human resilience and resistance, was played.

Today marks 82 years since the complete liberation of Leningrad from the blockade, which lasted 872 days and brought sorrow, hunger, and numerous losses.

Participants of the event emphasized that the memory of the blockade is not just a date on the calendar, but an important reminder of the price of Victory and the necessity to pass these events on to future generations.

Currently, there are only 11 blockade survivors left in Kyrgyzstan, of whom nine live in Bishkek.
