The Doomsday Clock now shows a record close time to global catastrophe
According to data published in the American scientific journal Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, the hands of the Doomsday Clock have been moved to 85 seconds to midnight, which is 4 seconds closer to global catastrophe than last year, when they showed 89 seconds.

The reason for this decision was the "aggressive actions" of nuclear powers, including Russia, China, and the United States. This was also influenced by the deterioration of control over the nuclear arsenal, conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as issues related to artificial intelligence.

These clocks were created by a Chicago-based nonprofit organization in 1947, at the height of the Cold War, to inform the public about the potential threat of global annihilation.
