According to Baisalov, an increase in social benefits is expected in 2026.

At a joint meeting of the parliamentary groups "Ala-Too" and "Eldik" on January 30, he reported that the poverty level in Kyrgyzstan is approximately 25%, of which 33% are low-income families with children.

In the country, 950 thousand children live below the poverty line, and families with children under 16 receive the "Uiy-bulogo komok" benefit of 1,200 soms.

“At a meeting with the Prime Minister Adylbek Aleshovich, it was instructed to consider the possibility of increasing social benefits. We plan to add at least 500 or 1,000 soms to those who receive the lowest benefits. For these purposes, 4.5 to 8 billion soms have been allocated,” he added.

Deputy Daniyar Tolonov suggested that the government revise the criteria for assigning benefits for children under 16. He noted that one of the conditions is a guaranteed minimum income for the family of 1,000 soms per person.

“If there are two parents and three children in the family, and the father earns 5,000 soms a month, they are entitled to the 'Uiy-bulogo komok' benefit. However, if his income is 6,000 soms, then the benefit is not granted. This raises questions: is it possible to live on such money? Many citizens are asking for help, explaining that they are denied benefits due to exceeding the guaranteed minimum income. It is necessary to revise the criteria, although this will require additional financial resources,” Tolonov noted.

It should be reminded that social benefits are intended for citizens who are not entitled to a pension.
