At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 24, Deputy Marlen Mamataliev raised the issue of poverty eradication in the country and increasing benefits. He pointed out that the disability allowance is only 6,000 soms.

Edil Baisalov confirmed that the poverty level in Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased after the pandemic but is gradually decreasing each year.

According to him, "In 2025, the poverty level was 25%. But this is just statistics. For example, a World Bank study titled 'Listening to the Kyrgyz Republic,' which covers 500 families, shows that while four years ago many families faced financial and food difficulties, their number has significantly decreased now. Today, about 10-12% of families consider themselves poor," he noted.

Furthermore, Baisalov reported that issues regarding the increase of child benefits and disability allowances are currently being considered.

He added, "Recently, a meeting was held at the request of the president, and although I cannot disclose all the details, a decree on increasing benefits is being prepared for signing, and it can be said that the issue is being addressed."

Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that to combat poverty, it is necessary to develop small businesses in regions where people are engaged in agriculture and farming.
