At the meeting of the parliamentary groups "Eldik" and "Ala-Too," held on January 30, Ulan Primov, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, expressed concern about the current social benefits in light of the economic situation in the country. He emphasized the need to revise the existing criteria for their allocation.

During his speech, Primov provided specific data on the rise in food prices. For example, the cost of flour ranges from 1700 to 2500 soms depending on the variety, while the minimum consumer basket is about 8700 soms. He noted that families with an income of around 6000 soms may find themselves without benefits, despite having children, which calls into question the existing criteria for neediness.

According to the deputy, although the country's economy shows growth, the benefit allocation system is based on provisions from 2020. He emphasized that during this period, both prices and the level of inflation have changed, necessitating an update of the norms regulating social payments.

Primov also touched on the issue of asset consideration when allocating benefits. He pointed out that owning transportation or equipment can become a barrier to receiving payments, even if this equipment is used only seasonally, such as agricultural machinery.

The deputy proposed revising the current rules so that they better reflect the real living conditions of citizens, rather than limiting their access to support due to minimal assets.

Kanat Sagynbaev, the Minister of Labor, Social Protection, and Migration, noted that proposals to increase the guaranteed minimum income and improve the criteria for benefit allocation are currently being considered. He added that after these proposals are agreed upon, they will be sent to the Ministry of Finance.
