Only 2% of divorced parents in Kyrgyzstan receive alimony regularly
In the Batken region, a court sentenced a man who was evading alimony payments to two years in prison. This was reported by the General Prosecutor's Office.
The sentence was issued by the Batken District Court.
Since July 3, 2017, the citizen had not fulfilled his alimony obligations, and by September 1, 2022, his debt had exceeded 501,000 soms.
Initially, in October 2025, the court imposed two years of probation supervision. However, after an appeal from the victim, the court changed its decision and sent the debtor to prison for two years.
According to the Judicial Department, there are about 60,000 cases of alimony payments in the country, but only 2% of divorced parents receive funds on a regular basis.
