The situation surrounding the specialized boarding school for blind and visually impaired children located on Kulatov Street in Bishkek raises concerns among both parents and educators. Parents and teachers are actively opposing the relocation of the institution to the villages of Chon-Aryk or Tash-Dobo (Vorontsovka), which became known in December of last year.

The Impact of the School's Relocation on Families and Educators

One mother, who moved to Bishkek so her child could attend this school, noted: "I have other children who attend different schools. If the school is moved, it will be difficult for me to manage their transportation to educational institutions, especially considering the traffic congestion even within the city limits."

Another mother added: "To be honest, there are already problems with public transport in Vorontsovka."

Currently, the school is actively integrated into urban life: students engage in computer literacy, orientation with a white cane, chess, vocal training, music, learn foreign languages, prepare for the OTR (Unified National Test), and participate in various cultural events. Moving the institution outside the city would impose serious limitations on the children, depriving them of access to these important opportunities and leading to isolation. Moreover, parents are convinced that the designated bus will not be able to provide the necessary logistics for all routes.

We insist on canceling the decision to relocate the school outside of Bishkek, maintaining its location in the city, and building a modern, accessible, and inclusive building at the current site in the interests of the children, educators, and the entire community.
