In Bishkek, parents of children studying at the boarding school for the blind and visually impaired have gathered signatures for a petition demanding that the educational institution be maintained at its current location - 37 Kulatov Street.

They express concern regarding a possible proposal to relocate the school to a remote area, specifically to the village of Chon-Aryk, which causes them confusion and fear for their children's future.

According to the parents, moving the school to such a distant area would hinder children's access to education. The children have already adapted to the current environment, teachers, and curriculum. Traveling long distances every day presents an additional challenge, leading to increased transportation costs and the risk of delays or missed classes.

Moreover, this will have a serious impact on families, many of whom are blind and cannot afford the long daily trips to their children's new place of education. It will also be difficult for teachers to adapt to the new working conditions.

The school at 37 Kulatov Street is not just an educational institution, but a comfortable and familiar environment for our children. Here, blind and visually impaired children receive the necessary support and attention. Educating such children requires a special approach, and a new location will not be able to provide the needed conditions.

We urge the authorities to reconsider the decision made and keep the school at its current location, instead suggesting the possibility of improving and expanding the existing building.

“This will be a manifestation of respect for our children and an important contribution to their future,” the appeal emphasizes.

It is worth noting that the boarding school for blind and visually impaired children in Bishkek has been in existence since 1939 and is in need of serious renovation. In September, government representatives announced plans to construct a new building. However, soon after, according to the parents, rumors emerged that the new boarding school would be built in Chon-Aryk, and the site on Kulatov Street would be handed over to an investor.
