For a long time, the average annual volume of freight transportation in the country fluctuated around 7 million tons. However, by the end of 2024, this figure had already reached 9.2 million tons, and in 2025 it increased to 10.5 million tons, which corresponds to 114.2% of the previous year. This is 1.3 million tons more than in 2024.
A 50-kilometer section of the Balykchy - Kochkor railway was built with funds from the National Company "Kyrgyz Temir Zholu," with a designed length of 63.4 kilometers.
Work has also been completed on the foundation of the Kochkor station building, and construction of the station is currently ongoing. A monolithic concrete frame has been installed on the first floor of the building. The commissioning of the Kochkor station is scheduled for 2026, which will allow this section of the railway to begin operations.
In addition, active construction work has begun along the entire route of "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan," within which the construction of 50 bridges and 29 tunnels is planned.
In a short time, work on the construction of temporary infrastructure necessary for the implementation of the project has been completed. The installation of a temporary power line has been finished, and temporary tracks have been built along the entire length of the railway (192.323 kilometers). Eleven main construction camps have also been put into operation, and all 29 tunnels have entered the stage of underground transition works.
