Guns Against Avalanches: 130 Thousand Cubic Meters Released on the Bishkek - Osh Road
The Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic has organized planned activities in areas prone to avalanche danger, starting with the important highway Bishkek — Osh. Artillery units have deployed their equipment on dangerous mountain slopes, allowing them to conduct targeted fire on snow cornices.

These measures are aimed at preventing blockages of key transport arteries in the country by controlling the accumulation of snow masses. According to the ministry, more than 130 thousand cubic meters of snow have already been released during the operation, and by the end of April, this volume is expected to increase to over one million cubic meters.

Specialists from the avalanche service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are working alongside the military, regularly conducting controlled avalanche releases in the main mountainous sections of roads across the country during the winter period.
