During a recent meeting of the Bishkek City Hall, the results of the city's work for 2025 were summarized and plans for 2026 were outlined. One of the key areas has become the expansion of the waste recycling system, including the construction of a second waste processing plant.
The mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliev, reported that on December 27, 2025, the first eco-technological plant in Central Asia was opened in Bishkek, capable of processing 1–1.2 tons of solid household waste per day and generating up to 30 megawatt-hours of electricity. To date, this plant has already processed 80,000 tons of waste.
According to the mayor, construction of a second plant of similar capacity will begin in 2026, which will increase the total processing to 3,000 tons per day. This innovation will allow for the processing of not only the capital's waste but also waste from the Chui region.
The development of the sorting and recycling complex, which has a capacity of 100 tons per day, is also ongoing. In 2026, the launch of a new plant for deep waste processing is planned, where products for the needs of municipal enterprises will be manufactured — such as benches, trash cans, manholes, and paving slabs.
