In Kyrgyzstan, since the launch of the free vaccination program against hepatitis B, about 192,000 adults have completed the full course consisting of three doses over three years. This data was provided by Umutkan Chokmorova, the director of the Center for the Control of Hematogenic Viral Hepatitis and HIV, in an interview for 24.kg.

According to Chokmorova, more than 312,000 citizens received the first dose of the vaccine. This means that only 60% of people who started the vaccination complete it.

WHO Recommendations

To ensure reliable protection against hepatitis B, a minimum of three vaccinations is required. Only then is a lasting immune response to the virus formed. The first dose does not provide full protection and requires additional vaccinations to achieve the necessary antibody levels.

Chokmorova noted that in the future, it is planned to vaccinate 150,000 to 200,000 people annually, with the possibility of expanding the program as funding increases.

It should be noted that free vaccination against hepatitis B is available for adults aged 24 to 65, as well as for those who have not yet received this vaccination. The vaccine is administered in three stages and provides long-term protection against infection.
