The candidacy of Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov for the position of chairman of the State Committee for National Security was presented by Bektur Zulpiyev, appointed as the representative of the president and government in parliament. This became possible at a meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, state structure, local self-government, and the Regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Zulpiyev noted that Shabdanbekov was born in 1970 in the Jumgal district of the Naryn region and has a higher education obtained at the Kyrgyz State National University in 1991. He began his career in the same year, and since 1994 has been working at the GKNB, holding various responsible positions.
“He has experience in counterintelligence, has worked for many years in the State Guard Service, the Anti-Terrorism Center, and the Anti-Corruption Service. Since 2020, Shabdanbekov has been the deputy chairman of the 9th department,” Zulpiyev added.
The deputies supported Shabdanbekov's candidacy without discussion.
