Kyrgyzstan abstained from voting at the UN on the resolution for peace in Ukraine
On the fourth anniversary of the start of military actions in Ukraine, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for peace in the region. Details about this can be found here.

The resolution was supported by 107 countries, 12 states voted against it, while 51 countries, including Kyrgyzstan, the USA, and China, abstained from voting.

The document emphasizes the importance of Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The US proposal to exclude two paragraphs related to these principles and the UN Charter from the text was not supported, and the resolution was adopted without changes.

The resolution was supported by many European countries, Canada, Japan, Australia, South Korea, as well as states from Latin America and Africa. Those who opposed included, in particular, Russia, Belarus, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea, and Iran.

Among those who abstained from voting, in addition to Kyrgyzstan, were also the USA, China, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Slovakia, and other countries.

The document highlights the need to end military actions and seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict, as well as to adhere to international law and the norms of the UN Charter.
