Ishmatov Street, which leads to the village of Toloykon, is an important transport artery that hundreds of people use daily. However, it currently represents a zone of increased danger, threatening the lives and health of local residents.
“The road hasn’t seen repairs since Soviet times. In some places, the asphalt is completely destroyed. There are no sidewalks or drainage ditches. In dry weather, the street turns into a cloud of dust, and in the rain, it becomes a muddy mess. Minibuses are already refusing to travel on this road, as the vehicles cannot withstand such conditions. People have to walk significant distances,” local residents share.
The greatest concern among the citizens is the safety of children.
“We have no playgrounds, and children are forced to play on the road, which is constantly used by cars. Every day poses a risk of a collision with disaster,” they say.
The situation is further complicated by the increased flow of heavy trucks. The heavy vehicles are destructively affecting the condition of the road, causing vibrations, and cracks are appearing in homes. The dust rising into the air is becoming a health problem for local residents, especially for the elderly and children.
“This problem is causing growing dissatisfaction among residents. People are on the brink of despair and openly talk about the need to block the road, as the passage of heavy trucks is becoming more frequent, and the authorities are not responding. They are not asking for anything impossible, just normal living conditions: a safe road, sidewalks, and other amenities,” local residents emphasize.
The citizens are appealing to the Osh authorities to take action:
- to carry out a major repair of Ishmatov Street;
- to restrict the movement of heavy vehicles;
- to ensure the safety of children and pedestrians;
- to create normal living conditions.
