“Many take advantage of my kindness and softness, but it doesn’t last long.”
As Japarov noted, immediately after receiving information that Azhiev had flown out on a helicopter, he ordered to bring him back. “We really released him by an act of clemency,” the president reported. “Azhiev’s mother contacted me with a video message; I don’t know how she got my number on WhatsApp.”
In her message, she spoke about the difficult situation her daughter-in-law was in with four children, one of whom is disabled. “Please, pardon my son; he will behave decently, I guarantee it,” she said.
Japarov, being a compassionate person, decided to pardon Azhiev, adding that on that day, 75 convicts who had committed less serious crimes were pardoned.
However, when the president learned about Azhiev’s helicopter flight, he immediately ordered to stop this process. “As a result, Azhiev left by car. Yes, he really flew out on a helicopter, but within 15 minutes we managed to bring him back,” the head of state explained.
He also commented on the accusations against the Ministry of Emergency Situations, noting that in this case, the ministry is not to blame. “Helicopters are used not only for emergency flights but also for commercial orders. Emergencies do not happen every day, so we allowed the use of the equipment during free time,” Japarov added.
According to him, the ministry has no instructions to pick up Azhiev directly from prison; only the starting and ending points, flight time, and number of passengers are determined.
Furthermore, the president expressed bewilderment about where Azhiev got the money for such an “expensive” way to return home. “When I found out about this, I felt uneasy. The mother is crying, saying they are left with nothing, while he is ordering a helicopter straight from prison. I thought I was deceived,” Japarov noted.
The head of state emphasized: “Many take advantage of my kindness and softness, but it doesn’t last long. As they say, if a soft person becomes tough — it’s forever.”
