He believes that the image does not correspond to the image of the totem animal of the Kyrgyz people.
At a meeting of the committee on science, education, innovation, culture, sports, and youth affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Bolot Saginayev expressed the opinion that the snow leopard depicted on the logo of the World Nomad Games (WNG) does not resemble a snow leopard.
During the discussion, he showed the image to the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Urmat Asanbaev, and clarified whether it was indeed a snow leopard.
Urmat Asanbaev confirmed that it was a snow leopard, adding that the logo had been approved by a special commission consisting of representatives from the WNG secretariat and government officials of Kyrgyzstan.
Nevertheless, Bolot Saginayev reiterated that, in his opinion, the image does not resemble a snow leopard.
"It seems to me that at sporting events, snow leopards are usually depicted differently. I am not against the image itself and acknowledge that it was approved by the commission. But the question arises — is this really a snow leopard? This is a totem animal for the Kyrgyz. We hold festivals, and the history of Kyrgyzstan is closely linked to the snow leopard. It is a majestic and predatory animal. I do not see the image of a snow leopard on the WNG logo," the deputy stated, suggesting a redesign of the logo.
