Kyrgyzstan now proudly boasts a new symbol — the snow leopard, which has officially become the country's logo. This image will be used on various awards, commemorative medals, coins, and even in architectural projects. The author of this symbol is designer Nurbek Nasyranbekov, whose team from the iMedia studio embodied the majestic predator as a symbol of inner strength and the pursuit of progress.
In an interview with 24.kg, Nurbek shared details about the process of creating the leopard — from the first sketches to the logo's approval by the government. He also noted that it was important for this symbol to be accessible to everyone, emphasizing how the leopard reflects the character of the entire republic.

— Nurbek, how did you start working on the snow leopard logo?
— The idea came from the cabinet, which wanted to establish the image of the leopard as a national symbol for Kyrgyzstan, considering its presence on the coats of arms of many countries. The Ministry of Natural Resources organized a competition, but its results did not satisfy the commission. Then we were invited to refine the concept. We proposed several options, and one of them was approved.
— How did the process of creating the symbol go?
— The process was organized. We drew, presented the results, received feedback, and made changes. It was important to coordinate everything at different levels within government structures, which added complexity, but this is standard professional practice.
— What was the most challenging aspect from a creative standpoint?
— The task was to convey the character of the leopard. This majestic animal inhabiting the mountains needed to maintain a balance between its power and inner freedom in the depiction.
— Does the dynamics in the logo have a special meaning?
— Absolutely. The leopard steps with its right paw and moves to the right — this symbolizes the aspiration for the future. Its raised head and confident gaze emphasize determination.
— Why was a realistic style chosen?
— We considered different styles — from stylized to graphic. Ultimately, a realistic approach was chosen to emphasize the living presence of the leopard as a symbol, rather than just a decorative element.
— How long did it take to create the final design?
— About three months. For a government project, this is quite fast. In total, we developed around 20–25 options, considering minor adjustments.
— Who else worked on the logo?
— The team included me and Nargiza Kulataeva from the iMedia design studio. We worked together, but also consulted with other professionals.

— What is your opinion on the regulation of the logo's use, as approved by the cabinet of ministers?
— I understand the need for regulation, but I believe that the leopard logo should be available for free use. It is not a coat of arms or flag, but a symbol of the country that reflects its spirit and should be accessible to all.
— What personal significance does the snow leopard have for you?
— It is an animal that respects itself and does not pay attention to the opinions of others. The leopard symbolizes strength, calmness, and independence, and these qualities should be associated with Kyrgyzstan.
— Can this symbol become part of the international brand of the republic?[/b>
— Yes, it is quite possible. The main thing is that creative people, such as artists and designers, continue to work on it. The more the symbol is integrated into the culture, the stronger it will become.
[b]— What are your future plans for work?
— I have a dream to create modern textbooks for schools with good design. We have already worked on government projects, but in education, I want to do something truly new and useful.
