Damage of one million soms: results of the work of Kyrgyzstan's reserves in 2025

In 2025, 139 cases of violations of environmental legislation were recorded in specially protected natural areas (SPNAs) of Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision.

The total damage amounted to over 1.1 million soms. The majority of violations were related to plant life, with 98 cases recorded totaling 460.3 thousand soms. Additionally, 20 violations related to land resources, 7 cases concerning water resources, and 14 incidents related to animal life were identified.

As a result of inspections:

Currently, 578.2 thousand soms have been recovered in 78 cases. The remaining cases are under review.

As part of the national initiative "Zhasyl-Muras," 25.2 thousand forest seedlings were planted in natural parks, increasing the area of new plantations by more than 39 hectares.

According to the results of the autumn inventory, there are still 359.3 thousand seedlings growing in nurseries, of which 106.8 thousand have been deemed suitable for planting.

To date, there are over 90 specially protected natural areas in Kyrgyzstan, including state reserves, natural parks, and wildlife sanctuaries, which occupy about 7 percent of the country's territory. The campaign "Zhasyl-Muras" was initiated by President Sadyr Japarov in 2022, aimed at restoring forest ecosystems and combating climate change.
