At the meeting of the Education Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 16, Deputy Saltanat Amanova reported on the introduction of additional fees by Osh State University for students transferring from other educational institutions.

According to Amanova, OshSU, which has received special status, requires payment for credit differences when returning from academic leave, reinstatement after expulsion, transferring from other universities, or enrolling after a vocational college. The university charges 800 soms for one credit hour, which ultimately leads to significant expenses — according to her, the amount can vary from 15,000 to 20,000 soms. Additionally, students are required to take exams in 10 to 16 subjects, which also creates additional financial burdens. "Why do such fees exist only at OshSU? On what grounds does the university set such tariffs? Is this legal?" the deputy questions, noting that students' parents are unable to pay such amounts.

Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovations Bekbosun Borubashev noted that universities have the right to make local decisions regarding tariffs.

He added: "All aspects related to payments and exams must comply with the law. Although such issues arise periodically, I cannot provide a specific answer until an on-site inspection is conducted. However, it is worth noting that the law does not provide for such additional payments," said the deputy minister.

In this regard, the deputy called on the Ministry to organize a commission for a detailed investigation of the university's actions.
