A Kyrgyzstani has once again become the world champion in Quran reading

Mukhamadali Qari Umarov, representing Kyrgyzstan, has once again won gold at the international Quran reading competition. This information was published by the press service of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan.

According to their data, the event took place on March 17 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The winner received a cash prize of 50,000 Saudi riyals, which is approximately equivalent to 13,000 dollars.

A total of 10,000 participants from around the world applied for the competition, of which 2,000 passed the selection and became competitors.

The final consisted of 64 participants who demonstrated their skills and knowledge over eight days.

The main criteria of the competition included complete memorization of the Quran and strict adherence to the rules of Tajweed, which pertain to correct reading. The results of the competition were as follows:


After his victory, Mukhamadali Qari Umarov shared his impressions, expressing gratitude to the Almighty for the opportunity to once again take first place on the international stage. He noted that he achieved this success thanks to the support and prayers of the people of Kyrgyzstan.


Mukhamadali Qari Umarov is a fourth-year student at the Quran faculty of the Islamic University of Medina.

It is worth noting that on September 22, 2022, a World Competition for Quran Reading and Interpretation took place in Mecca, which featured representatives from 111 countries. At that time, Mukhamadali Qari Umarov also emerged as the winner, receiving a prize of 250,000 riyals.
