At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Toktobubu Ashymbaeva raised the question of why the state only pays attention to athletes who take prize places in international tournaments, while the achievements of filmmakers remain unsupported.

She reminded that in 2026, Kyrgyz cinema will celebrate its 85th anniversary. During this period, according to her, five films have been awarded the Grand Prix at A-class film festivals:

She also pointed out that in the past, the state actively supported the film industry, but now, despite international awards, directors do not receive the necessary assistance.

According to Ashymbaeva, “athletes receive apartments, cars, and money for their achievements, while young directors, who contribute to the development of culture, remain without support. This would be an important step forward,” emphasized the deputy, addressing the cabinet of ministers with a request to consider this issue.
