The film forum will take place at the main building of Osh State University and the "Semetey" cinema.

The film forum for women directors will be held in Osh. Program

Venue: Osh State University (opening and closing), "Semetey" cinema (film screenings).
Date: December 2-5, 2025.
Organizers: The Cinematography Department of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, and Osh State University.

Forum Program

This year, the film forum includes two main programs featuring 25 films created by women directors:

1. "Female Lens" Program

This program consists of 16 films made by women directors from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.

2. "Environmental and Social Activism" Program

This program includes nine films addressing issues of ecology, climate change, and activism. For the first time, a separate block dedicated to ecology is presented within the film forum, highlighting the importance of sustainable development and the role of women in nature conservation.

The films presented at the film forum address important social issues such as the status of women and children, disability issues, and environmental protection.

December 2 - Day 1

The official opening of the forum will take place in the conference hall of Osh State University, followed by the presentation of the book by journalist and publicist Zhamba Zhusubalieva titled "Klava Yusupzhanova." Next, young screenwriter Gulzhan Toktogul, a graduate of the American Film Institute (AFI), will conduct a master class on screenwriting.

December 3 - Day 2

Films from the "Environmental and Social Activism" program will be screened at the "Semetey" cinema. After the screenings, there will be a demonstration of the documentary "Ata-Meken" by Kazakh director Zhanana Kurmasheva, which is participating in the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA). A panel discussion with ecologists and directors will also take place.

December 4 - Day 3

Screenings of films from the "Female Lens" program will continue at the "Semetey" cinema, followed by discussions with the audience.

Additionally, the film "Kara. Kyzyl. Sary" by Kyrgyz director Aktan Arym Kubat, awarded for Best Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival (A-Class), will be shown. After the screening, the director will conduct a master class.

December 5 - Day 4

A presentation of the research program of the Public Fund for Creative Women of Asia will take place at the main building of Osh State University. Actress Zhanailai Isakova will conduct a master class on acting. The closing ceremony of the forum will conclude with the jury awarding prizes and diplomas for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the "Female Lens" and "Environmental and Social Activism" programs.

About the Film Forum

Since 2016, the Public Fund for Creative Women of Asia has been organizing the International Film Forum for Women Directors annually.

The main goal of the forum is to create a platform for women directors to communicate, share experiences, and discuss relevant social issues.

Cinematography remains a challenging field for women directors in Kyrgyzstan, and they need support and opportunities for professional growth.
