The Bishkek City Hall is 'reconstructing' parks and boulevards, but residents oppose the cutting down of trees

The capital is experiencing a significant loss of mature trees, which are essential for clean air and shade.

The Bishkek administration has announced plans for the 'reconstruction' of parks and boulevards. In particular, the work will affect the Erkindik and Young Guards boulevards, where updates to the road infrastructure are planned.

However, on social media, residents of the city have expressed their dissatisfaction, fearing that this work will lead to mass tree cutting. Specifically, almost all the trees on Erkindik Boulevard have already been numbered, which citizens believe is a sign of their impending destruction.

The city authorities assured that new greenery will be planted in the places where trees are cut down, but local residents emphasize that the new saplings will take decades to grow into mature trees capable of providing clean air and shade for the capital.
