At a recent expert discussion on the general plan held on December 2, Kalicha Umuraliyeva, former director of the Municipal Enterprise "City Parks," pointed out that in the new general plan, the protective status has been retained only for the Karagacheva Grove, while the other parks and squares have lost this status.

She noted that in 1991, several parks, including Oak Park, Karagacheva Grove, and Fuchik Park, were granted the status of specially protected natural areas; however, according to the presented plan, only the Karagacheva Grove has retained this status. Umuraliyeva expressed concern: "Are you proposing to revoke the protective status for all other parks? If this happens, what will be their fate?"

The response to her questions came from Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrov, who assured that all green zones in Bishkek would be under protection. "We strive to preserve all parks and even increase their number. We are working on the necessary documentation. As you know, in the past, many parks lacked proper documents, but now we are working on formalizing them, and they will be protected by the state," he emphasized.

In response to Umuraliyeva's concerns, she suggested that a special status for the parks be designated in the general plan in advance to avoid misunderstandings in the future. City hall representatives promised that all information about the parks would be passed on to the developers for the necessary amendments.
