Umuraliyeva emphasized that the General Plan designates a specially protected area No. 1, covering the central part of the city, and asked whether this status would be preserved in the updated General Plan.
Despite the presence of protected area No. 1 near TSUM, a huge three-story building of questionable purpose is being constructed there, even though building in this zone is prohibited. The activist did not receive an answer to her question. Deputy Mayor Azamat Kadyrov merely reminded that the first underground pedestrian crossing is being constructed in the area of Shopokova and Abdrakhmanova streets, which has gone through all necessary urban planning procedures and is included in the plans.
It is worth noting that in the center of Bishkek, former mayor Nariman Tyleev is implementing a large project for the construction of a multifunctional underground complex called Old Bishkek. Many residents express dissatisfaction with the appearance of the new building and remind that it was not included in the original project.
