After Batken was granted city status in 2009, the city’s internal affairs management was separated from the district management according to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan No. 1052 dated December 12, 2009. On February 1, 2010, the new unit began its work, staffed with 25 positions.
The first head of the Batken City Department of Internal Affairs was Colonel of Police Begali Ulukbekovich Akhmedov, who held this position from February 1, 2010, until 2011.
After him, the management was headed by:
– Colonel of Police Nuraly Ergeshovich Berdiev (2011 – April 2015);
– Lieutenant Colonel of Police Almazbek Tillebaevich Shagamurzaev (2015–2020);
– Colonel of Police Nurlanbek Orozmatovich Burkanov (from February to May 2021);
– Colonel of Police Zhanibek Toktoshovich Kanzamanov (from May 2021 to February 2023);
– Almazbek Nurpazylovich Kubatbekov (from February to November 2023);
– Lieutenant Colonel of Police Turdubai Kamchybekovich Samatov (from November 2023 to March 2025).
Since April 2025, the position of head of the Batken City Department of Internal Affairs has been held by Lieutenant Colonel of Police Ruslan Alimzhanovich Omoshov.
For a long time, the Batken City Department of Internal Affairs did not have its own building. Initially, employees worked in a temporary facility of the regional education department, and later in the building of the Social Fund. In March 2019, a separate building was allocated, renovations were carried out, and on May 22, 2019, an official opening took place, attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Almazbek Orozaliev. However, this building has still not been transferred to the jurisdiction of the Batken Regional Department of Internal Affairs.
