Our correspondent conducted an interview with this outstanding policeman.
Azamat was born in the village of Amanbaev, located in the Aitmatov district of the Talas region.
“In 2008, I graduated from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic named after E. Aliyev and now work as a senior inspector in the personnel department of the Talas Regional Department of Internal Affairs, holding the rank of lieutenant colonel. The inspiration for choosing this profession came from my older brother, who also served in the police and was always my role model,” he shares.
Azamat began his career in 2008 as a district inspector in Talas. Later, he became an operational officer and then a senior operational officer. In 2010, he moved to the department for combating illegal drug trafficking of the Talas Regional Department of Internal Affairs, where he also held positions as a senior operational employee. In 2017, he became the head of the crime investigation department in the Manas district, then worked in the criminal investigation department, as well as in the department for combating organized crime. In 2022, he was appointed as a senior operational employee in the department for investigating particularly important cases, in 2023 he became the deputy head of the Talas district department, and since September 2024, he has held his current position.
In his work, Azamat has faced many challenging situations. He shared with us one of the memorable cases:
“A few years ago, an attempted murder occurred in the pasture of Kara-Koyun in the Bakai-Ata district. We arrived at the scene and were able to identify the criminal. He was known to local shepherds, who told us that catching him would be difficult, as he possessed remarkable agility and observation skills. They mentioned that he always had a rifle and a dagger at hand. I was determined to apprehend him. In the first two days, we had no success in our search, so on the third day, I suggested to the management to stay at the location, as I was sure he would return home. I stayed with a few colleagues at one of the shepherds, hiding in a ditch near his house. The criminal came only at dawn, and it turned out that he had been watching us and was aware of our presence. However, thanks to the fact that we did not turn on the lights and left the car far away, he made a mistake and was apprehended,” Azamat recounted.
