The State Center for Registration of Vehicles and Drivers under the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that the free replacement of indefinite driver's licenses will end on March 31.
Starting April 1, the replacement procedure will cost 1,389 soms. Citizens will be able to exchange their licenses without the need to provide a medical certificate in form 083 until December 31 of this year.
According to information from the "Unaa" institution, during the campaign for free license replacement, more than 335,000 documents were updated across the country.
It is worth noting that last fall, a measure was adopted to abolish indefinite licenses and introduce new ones valid for 10 years. Licenses issued from 2009 to 2012 will remain valid until 2027.
Initially, a medical examination was required for the replacement of indefinite licenses, which led to significant queues in healthcare institutions, after which this requirement was canceled.
