Under the agreement reached, Washington commits to providing necessary financial assistance, while the International Organization for Migration will address issues related to providing migrants with food and housing.

It should be noted that Costa Rica has previously accepted migrants deported from the United States. In February 2025, local authorities agreed to temporarily accommodate 200 migrants, among whom were citizens of India and Central Asian countries. Panama, El Salvador, Rwanda, and Libya have also committed to accepting migrants deported from the USA.

The U.S. Supreme Court allowed the deportation of migrants to third countries in June 2025.
