Gulshaiyr Abdi rasulova: "A period has been put in the Kempiir-Abad case!"
On March 27, the Bishkek City Court issued a ruling acquitting all defendants in the Kempiir-Abad case. The court upheld the verdict of the first instance without making any changes. This was reported by the judicial authority.
The proceedings involved the cases of 22 activists, including politicians and journalists. Many of them were under house arrest.
Human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdi rasulova expressed her joy on social media, stating: "What happiness! Finally, a period has been put in the Kempiir-Abad case! Congratulations to all the acquitted and a huge thank you to their lawyers! You are magnificent!"
It is worth reminding that the arrests of the activists took place in October 2022 in connection with accusations of organizing mass riots. They were charged under Article 326 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The First May District Court issued an acquittal in June 2024; however, the prosecutor's office appealed this decision.
