The Sverdlovsk District Court previously sentenced the human rights activist to 5 years of probation
Human rights activist Gulshaiyr Abdirasulova reported on social media that the Bishkek City Court upheld the decision of the Sverdlovsk District Court regarding activist Rita Karasartova.
On September 18, the Sverdlovsk District Court found her guilty under Articles 278 and 327 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, sentencing her to 5 years of probation.
It is worth noting that the prosecutor initially sought a 10-year prison sentence for Karasartova.
On April 14, the human rights activist was detained, and a search was conducted at her home. It is believed that these actions by law enforcement were related to the publication of a letter by activist Tilekmat Kurunov.
A criminal case against Rita Karasartova was initiated on charges of inciting mass riots and violent seizure of power.
