Marinko Matosevic disqualified for four years for doping

40-year-old Marinko Matosevic, who previously represented the Australian national team in tennis and worked as a coach, has been sanctioned for four years. This decision was made by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) due to serious violations of anti-doping rules that occurred between 2018 and 2020.

Among the violations Matosevic was found guilty of are the use of prohibited methods such as blood doping, as well as assisting another athlete in committing doping violations and providing recommendations on manipulating doping tests. In early 2026, he admitted to using blood transfusions during a tournament in Mexico in February 2018, just months before the end of his career.

According to the verdict of an independent tribunal, the results of all competitions in which Matosevic participated, as well as the prize money he earned during the violations (including Challenger series tournaments in Morelos and Indian Wells in 2018), have been annulled. The disqualification began on March 16, 2026, and will last until March 15, 2030. During this period, he is prohibited not only from competing in tournaments but also from coaching or otherwise interacting with professional players.
