In Kyrgyzstan, the UN Day was brightly celebrated
The celebration of UN Day took place at the Abdykalyk Maldybaev Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theater. The event was held under the motto "Working Together: 80 Years of Collaboration for Peace, Development, and Human Rights and the Way Forward".

According to participants, this vibrant celebration of UN Day in Kyrgyzstan was the first of its kind in a long time. National and international partners of the UN system gathered at the event, including representatives from government bodies, parliament, civil society, youth, media, and international organizations, to reaffirm their collective commitment to the principles of peace, sustainable development, and human rights.

The UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, Antje Grawe, emphasized the importance of dialogue and partnership in addressing both global and local issues in her welcoming speech. She noted:

“The United Nations, like an orchestra of 80 musicians, brings together many voices, each with its own tone and rhythm, creating harmony when they play together for a common purpose. This is the essence of multilateralism—unity in diversity and strength in cooperation.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, also spoke at the event, highlighting that the history of Kyrgyz diplomacy is closely linked to the history of the UN, which shares a common goal—to serve peace and international cooperation.

He stated: “Last year we celebrated the 80th anniversary of our diplomatic service, and the fact that it was established on the same day as the UN is not just a symbol. Kyrgyzstan and the UN have traveled a long and difficult path, facing contradictions and challenges, experiencing periods of both formation and tension, sometimes moving along a broad, and sometimes along a narrow road of development.”

A panel discussion on the topic “The UN at 80: Partnership and Goals in a Changing World” followed, featuring representatives from civil society and experts.

An exhibition titled “UN Village” showcased the work of 27 UN agencies in Kyrgyzstan across four key areas: Peace, Development, Human Rights, and Gender Equality, demonstrating the joint efforts of the UN and its partners in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals throughout the country.
