Zhoomart Turusbekov, working as an energy specialist, has dedicated his life to ensuring sustainable electricity supply for the village of Enilchek and the neighboring military units located in the hard-to-reach mountainous area of the Ak-Suu district in the Issyk-Kul region.

Despite being retired, he continues to actively participate in professional activities, remaining loyal to his work.

At 61 years old, Zhoomart is steadfastly pursuing the goal he set for himself back in school — to become an energy specialist, which led him to the appropriate education.

With extensive experience in the energy sector, he emphasizes that this profession requires a high level of responsibility.

“The work of an energy specialist is fraught with risk. A mistake can cost lives. Therefore, adhering to safety regulations when working with electricity is a top priority. We always share our experience with young professionals,” noted Turusbekov.

The main goal for Zhoomart is to provide the population with electricity. In his native village of Enilchek, where 35 subscribers live, he is achieving this goal.

“Until 2012, the village depended on private energy companies. Due to debts, residents could be left without electricity for a month during the winter. Then we switched to servicing JSC ‘Vostokelektr’ (now the Issyk-Kul Electric Networks Enterprise), and I was assigned to this area. The day we connected the power lines from Ak-Shiyrak on December 31 and provided people with electricity was unforgettable for me. Light brings warmth and life, and people were happy. Since then, I have continued to work in this region,” said the energy specialist.
Zhoomart also emphasized the importance of rational electricity use.

“Economical electricity consumption starts with each of us. By using lighting and household appliances only when necessary, we can avoid unnecessary expenses and dangerous situations. Additionally, so-called ‘smart’ meters help accurately track energy consumption and promote savings,” he added.

Interestingly, Zhoomart's two sons have also chosen careers in the energy sector, continuing their father's legacy.

Overall, he is a proud father of three children and a grandfather of four grandchildren. Over his 40 years of work in the energy sector, he has received numerous awards from local authorities and the Ministry of Energy, and he has been honored with the title of Hero of Energy.
