At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 14, deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva (district No. 23) raised the issue of relocating the school for visually impaired students located in Bishkek to the village of Vorontsovka.

According to the deputy, there are only two specialized boarding schools for blind and visually impaired children in Kyrgyzstan — one is in Bishkek and the other is in Osh.

“In Bishkek, 220 children study, of which 100 are from other regions. It is proposed to move the school to Vorontsovka. The staff and parents of the students are extremely concerned about this situation. Access to this location is very difficult, minibuses go there with great difficulty, and the children have their own specific needs. This is not being taken into account. The distance is too great, and it creates additional inconveniences. Please keep the school where it is. Do not disturb the children,” the deputy appealed to the local authorities.
