At the meeting of the permanent commission on social issues on January 23, deputy of the Bishkek city council Erjan Nasiraliyev ("Adilet") inquired about how many educational institutions in Bishkek use electric heating.

Rahat Musaeva, head of the Education Department of the city administration, reported that there are 119 schools and 120 kindergartens operating in Bishkek.

Out of the total number of institutions, 130 are connected to central heating, 54 use gas, 46 use electric boilers, 15 are heated with coal, and five schools have installed heat pumps.

According to the deputy, school No. 84 currently uses electric convectors for heating. The heating system in this educational institution operates differently: heat is supplied through radiators rather than centralized registers. This creates certain problems during the learning process.

The school administration turns off the convectors on weekends to reduce electricity consumption. Thus, on Friday, at the end of the school week, the heating is turned off, and on Monday morning, when the students arrive, the classroom is quite cold, especially for first and second graders.

"On one hand, this is a correct decision for saving electricity, but on the other hand, the children have to sit in a cold classroom in the frost," he noted, also inquiring whether there are plans to switch such schools to gas heating this year.

In response, Rahat Musaeva noted that schools No. 83, No. 84, and kindergarten No. 41 use electric convectors. According to her, a letter was sent to the company "Bishkekteploenergo" requesting to consider the possibility of switching these educational institutions to gas heating or connecting them to the central heating system.
