At the Binance Blockchain Week 2025 held in Dubai, Changpeng Zhao, the founder and former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, demonstrated a gold bar mined in Kyrgyzstan to the event participants.
During the discussion on "The Great Debate: Bitcoin vs. Tokenized Gold," the entrepreneur presented his viewpoint. Peter Schiff, co-founder of the brokerage firm Euro Pacific Capital, defended traditional assets such as gold, which has served as a reliable means of accumulation for centuries and is not subject to technological risks.
Changpeng Zhao responded that with the advent of tokenization, new horizons are opening up, allowing for the digitization of traditional resources and ensuring their liquidity on the international stage. He emphasized that tokenized gold could serve as a foundation for creating new financial instruments and be used as an alternative currency.
