With the approach of the New Year holidays, the fair becomes a place where people come for meat, meat products, cheeses, mushrooms, fish, as well as fresh vegetables and fruits.
The organizers of the event emphasize that the main goal of the fair is to offer socially important products to the population at prices lower than market rates. Flour and other basic products are sold at wholesale prices, and producers take turns participating in sales.
Iskak Anvarbekov, the curator of fairs in Bishkek, notes: “We urge all participants of the agricultural fair to consider social aspects and maintain affordable prices. We are happy to see local producers and farmers who adhere to environmental standards and have a positive reputation in the market. We have a wide selection of meat delicacies from small family farms to large enterprises. It is important for the producers themselves to present their products.”
Regular visitors note that they come to the fair not only for shopping but also for the atmospheric interaction.
The Nikolaev family of retirees shares: “We specifically come for chicken sausage with nuts, smoked partridges, and liver sausage from our childhood. At home, we make pies with onions and liver. We already know who to buy from, and the most important thing is that you can try everything before buying.”
The fair also includes a social initiative. A new tradition has emerged here — "boxes of kindness," where sellers and buyers can bring products, vegetables, and fruits. The next day, activists prepare pilaf and form a “kindness detachment” that goes to social institutions in the city. The first recipients of aid are vocational school No. 3 and the nursing home for the elderly with disabilities "Umut."
The organizers emphasize: “This is a collective decision of the fair participants. They all take part in the preparation, delivery, and support of each other.”
In addition to trading, the fair serves as an open platform for public events. Everyone is welcome who wants to showcase their talents: sing songs, recite poetry, or hold a concert. In cold weather, recordings of performances can be sent via Telegram. Those interested can also dance to lively kara-zhorgo regardless of the weather.
You can reach the fair by bus No. 1 from the Ala-Archa Gorge to the square. The weekend fair will continue its work until June 2026, and participation for farmers and processors is free, provided there is confirmation from the district agricultural management of the Ministry of Agriculture and compliance with pricing requirements.
In anticipation of the New Year, the fairs in Bishkek will operate from December 26 to December 31, 2025. After the holidays, trading will resume in mid-January.
