Recently, a forum was held at the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic, where the results of the project "Emergency Support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises" (MSMEs) were discussed. This initiative, which plays an important role in the economic development of the country, was implemented with the support of the World Bank, as reported by the ministry's press service.
Nurbek Akzholov, Deputy Minister of Finance, emphasized the importance of supporting the MSME sector in state policy, highlighting its role in ensuring employment, increasing incomes, and sustainable development of regions.
The project, funded with an amount of 150 million US dollars, covered about 20 thousand entrepreneurs and provided assistance totaling over 12 billion soms. This laid the foundation for the preservation of more than 21 thousand jobs across the country. Notably, this project became the first in the local office of the World Bank to receive a rating of "highly satisfactory" and was completed one and a half years ahead of schedule.
Representatives of business associations and commercial banks expressed high appreciation for the effectiveness of this initiative, particularly noting the mechanism of interest-free loans, which contributed to the active development of entrepreneurship and job preservation.
In addition, the Ministry of Finance announced the launch of new projects starting in 2026, aimed at developing a sustainable financial market for MSMEs and agri-food clusters. These initiatives will focus on long-term and systemic support for entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan.
