Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are preparing to launch a multimodal transport corridor that will connect China with Europe, bypassing the territory of Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Executive Committee of the CIS.

The first stage of the project will begin with a test run, during which a convoy of ten trucks will depart from Uzbekistan through Tajikistan to China.

The transport ministers of both countries have decided to launch this route and discussed the transition to an electronic system for issuing permits for international transportation.

Additionally, there are plans to increase the capacity at the Jartepa - Sarazm border crossing, where a logistics center will be established capable of processing up to 100 trucks per day and speeding up the documentation process.

As previously reported by Kursiv Uzbekistan, the project company "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan" has signed an agreement to finance the construction of a new railway worth $4.7 billion.
