An investigation is currently underway, examining various theories, including possible technical malfunctions of both the train and the railway tracks, as well as errors on the part of the staff.
It is worth noting that this section of the railway was opened in 2023 as part of the new Interoceanic Corridor project, which connects the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans through Mexican territory.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that authorities have already arrived at the scene to assist the victims and support the families of those who died.
