The investigation believes that these police officers are somehow involved in the tragic death of Carlos Manso, who was essentially supposed to be under their protection.
The Michoacán state prosecutor's office confirmed the arrest of seven officials, whose names are not disclosed, citing "possible involvement in murder under aggravating circumstances."
Manso, who actively spoke out against drug cartels and called for tougher measures in the fight against crime, was killed on November 1 during the Day of the Dead celebrations. His death sparked a wave of public protests.
