The collision took place near the Luoyangzhen station in Kunming, where the railway track has a sharp curve. The workers did not have time to notice the train coming around the bend. At the time of the incident, tests were being conducted on earthquake detection equipment.

According to the publication, train No. 55537, which was testing seismic equipment, struck workers who were on the tracks near the "Luoyangzhen" station in Kunming. As a result of the tragedy, 11 people died, and two were injured.
An investigation has currently been launched to determine how the individuals ended up on the tracks during the tests.
Reuters reports that this incident has become the largest railway accident in China in the last ten years.
