A batch of potatoes that does not meet phytosanitary requirements was discovered at the border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The statement was made by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

According to the agency, on January 7, 2026, at the "Consolidated Post" near the "Ak-Tilek" checkpoint, employees of the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine identified during phytosanitary control that a batch of potatoes weighing 44.2 tons lacked the necessary phytosanitary certificate. This product was classified as having a high phytosanitary risk.

The Ministry clarified that in accordance with paragraph 3.7 of the Regulation on the Procedure for Quarantine Phytosanitary Control on the Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, the cargo was returned to the sender.

The agency also noted that control over compliance with phytosanitary norms when importing agricultural products into the country is carried out in the usual manner.
