According to the latest changes adopted by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission, businesses in the EAEU countries now receive more reliable protection within the framework of antitrust investigations. These changes pertain to the process related to the consideration of competition cases in cross-border markets.

The press service of the EEC reports that at the conclusion of an antitrust investigation, the defendant will now receive clear conclusions regarding the charges brought against them, ensuring their right to defense. It has also been decided to reduce the timeframes for preparing decisions on certain cases from 60 to 45 working days.

According to the new regulations, the transfer of cases to national authorities is simplified, and quarantine periods are excluded from the statute of limitations, as stated in the announcement.

The Minister for Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the EEC, Maxim Ermolovich, previously raised the issue of the need to expand the commission's powers regarding the investigation of violations of antitrust legislation.

He emphasized that the EEC should acquire coordinating functions for more effective interaction with national antitrust authorities, which would allow for holding residents of third countries accountable for violations in other member states of the union.
