The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to establish zero import customs duties on waste and scrap of precious metals (categories 7112 30 000 0, 7112 91 000 0, 7112 92 000 0, and 7112 99 000 0 according to the EAEU Commodity Nomenclature) until December 31, 2028. This information was published on the official EEC website.

Vaghn Kazaryan, the director of the EEC Department of Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation, commented that the previously introduced customs and tariff measures have demonstrated their effectiveness. This is reflected in the stable utilization of the capacities of refining enterprises in the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union and the increase in the consumption of the specified waste and scrap.

Kazaryan also added that precious metals, possessing unique physicochemical properties, find wide application in various industries, while sources of primary raw materials are becoming increasingly limited.

The previously applicable duties on the import of waste and scrap of precious metals were 15% of the customs value.

The new measure will come into effect 30 days after its official publication.

It is worth noting that the zero rate of import duties on the goods in question has been in effect since June 2015 and will last until the end of December 2025.
