At a meeting in Moscow, the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union decided to grant exemptions for the import of electric vehicles to Armenia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan in 2026.

According to the agreement, the member countries will exempt from customs duties electric vehicles that will be imported into the specified states next year.

The preferential conditions apply to "pure electric vehicles" (code 8703 80 000 3 of the EAEU Customs Nomenclature) — their import to Belarus will amount to 20,000 units, while Armenia and Kyrgyzstan will each have 15,000 "pure electric vehicles" and "plug-in hybrids" (code 8703 80 000 5 of the EAEU Customs Nomenclature).

The Minister for Trade of the EEC, Andrey Slepnev, noted that such measures have already proven effective in previous years. He expressed hope that they will contribute to the development of charging infrastructure and increase the share of environmentally friendly transport in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

It is important to note that the exemption from customs duties will only be available to citizens residing permanently in Armenia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan. The transfer of ownership rights for electric vehicles to individuals who hold citizenship or permanent residency in Kazakhstan or Russia is prohibited. There is also a restriction on the transfer of rights for "plug-in hybrids" to citizens of Belarus.
