In Kyrgyzstan, the electricity tariff will increase from May 1

In Kyrgyzstan, starting from May 1, the electricity tariff for household users consuming up to 700 kilowatt-hours per month will increase by 27 tyiyns. The new cost will be 1 som 64 tyiyns per kilowatt-hour. This information was released by the Ministry of Energy of the country.

The social threshold will remain unchanged.

As for commercial consumers, taking into account the inflation rate of 9.4%, the tariff will be 4.33 soms per kilowatt-hour (3.96 soms + 0.37 soms), excluding taxes.

"Electricity tariffs for citizens are currently socially oriented and significantly lower than the actual cost price," the ministry emphasized.

In response, the ministry has developed a medium-term tariff policy covering the period from 2025 to 2030, aimed at balancing financial flows and reducing the deficit in the energy system.

To ensure stable electricity supply, annual maintenance of energy equipment is planned, including overhead lines, transformers, hydro units, and other devices. For a long time, existing tariffs did not reflect the actual costs of electricity production, and the difference was covered by budget financing. Now, tariffs will gradually be aligned with the actual cost price.

It should be noted that the new tariff policy, considering the mentioned changes, will in the future help eliminate the financial shortfall in the energy sector, which will contribute to the overall development of the country's economy and ensure access to electricity supply for new residential buildings, kindergartens, schools, hospitals, and other social institutions.
