Two books of works by the famous akyn Toktogul Satylganov have been published by the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth.
The publications – a collection of Toktogul's songs and his version of the small Kyrgyz epic "Kedeykan" – were released with print runs of 1,000 and 2,000 copies, respectively. The books represent the culmination of the work of the compilers – long-term research on the creativity of T. Satylganov by Academician A. Akmataliev and Candidate of Philological Sciences O. Sooronov.
According to them, the new releases contain several fragments of works by the legendary akyn that were altered for ideological reasons during publication in the Soviet years, including the version of the epic "Kedeykan." The compilers stated that materials from the Manuscript Fund of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic were used in the preparation of the collection and the epic's variant.
The books were published at the Bishkek printing house "Turar." Funding for the publication was allocated from the state budget in honor of the anniversary of Toktogul Satylganov. In the near future, with the support of the Turkic Academy, a number of works by the akyn are planned to be published in Kyrgyz and Kazakh languages.
